Healthcare costs in the united states and alternative solutions


Attendees will receive 1 Continuing Education Credit 

This course will educate insurance agents and brokers on how our current health care system in the US presently functions and how it is funded. We will compare present funding from both tax supported and commercial sources as well as analize potential alternative costs of funding from a single tax source. We will also examine the impact of this potential funding change on our present tax xystem. Finally, we will examine the national appetite for the proposed alternate funding system and consider the steps involved in making this change.

Chris Durkin RHU - REBC - CEBS - President

 

After entering in the insurance business in 1978, Chris founded the Fringe Benefit Company in February 1983. FBC has enjoyed a sustained period of significan growth form the its beginning to one of the largesr insurance and benefit consulting firms in the state of Arizona. Chris currently serves as the president and CEO of FBC Insurance Benefits and Consulting.

Chris received his designation as a Registered Health Underwrited in 1994 and in 1995 he earned his CEBS designation from the American College. Chris also has his PPACA certification form the American College, a division of the Wharton Business School.

Chis is a national speaker on the Affordable Care Act and its impact on business owners and their employees. He has authored a series of articles on the evolution of healthcare and the subsequent change in business practices. In 2008 ge was appointed to the governor's workgroup charged with building the exchange in Arizona.

Chis has twices been president of the Blue Cross Blue Shiled broker advisory council and remains involved in helping vendors recognize the needs of employers both large and small. He confesses to being somewheat of an insurance geek. 

Chris graduated from Arizona State University with a degree in English literature. He loves reading, golfing, bird hunting and fly fishing. Chris and his wife, Shawn have been married 41 years. They have been actively involved in Young Life ministry for more than 29 yeards and serve on the Young Life Africa committee. In 2015 Chris co-founded African Start, an entrepeneurial ministry teaching the principles of connstructive capitalism to African students. Chris and his family attend Highlands church in Scottsdale. Chris and Shawn have 4 sons and 7 grandchildren.
