Another year and another model!

ICHRA is a game-changer for employers looking to provide health benefits to their employees. It represents a new, more modern model of employer-sponsored health insurance. ICHRA stands for “Individual Coverage Health Reimbursement Arrangement” and is available for employers to start using in January 2020

  1. What ICHRA is and where it originated?
  2. Who will benefit the most from ICHRA?
  3. How to design an ICHRA to fit a range of needs & budgets?
  4. How the new classes work?
  5. How to calculate the affordability of an ICHRA?
  6. What is required in order to be eligible to use ICHRA?
  7. What it takes to administer an ICHRA?

How does ICHRA work?

As the name implies, ICHRA is based on reimbursing employees for insurance rather than buying it for them. At a high-level, the way ICHRA works is very simple:

  1. Employers design their plan, including defining which employees are eligible and establishing reimbursement limits
  2. Employees purchase the individual plans they want
  3. Employees submit claims for reimbursement
  4. Employers reimburse employees for valid claims
